Can two people co-pastor a church effectively? Co-pastoring is becoming more prevalent across denominations, with two individuals taking on the leadership of the church, both leading from their own strengths and experiences. Even if this sounds like a good idea in theory, how exactly does this work out practically? How do co-pastors divvy up their responsibilities and keep each other informed of everything happening in the church? And what happens if they disagree?
Often, co-pastors are two men leading the church, but men and women partnering together as co-pastors is a rising trend. Some churches employ both husband and wife to co-pastor, recognizing officially the ministry the pastor’s spouse often has, and empowering both to serve in their giftings. Other churches hire separately a man and woman who are not married to each other, usually based on their ministry gifts and experiences. And some, like in the case of Stephanie O’Brien and Michael Binder, plant and co-pastor their churches from the start. In this webinar, we’ll learn from O’Brien and Binder as they share their experience in planting co-pastoring Mill City Church in Minneapolis.
In this webinar, we will explore:
- How co-pastors can share their responsibilities
- What obstacles co-pastors face
- How co-pastors can support one another in their callings
- How men and women pastoring together can help both men and women flourish in ministry and the church
- How this model might work in various contexts
This webinar is perfect for co-pastors to learn from fellow co-pastors, people interested in learning more about co-pastoring models, and those interested in seeing men and women flourish together in ministry.
