Jon Houghton

Jon has served on Young Life staff for the last 20 years. He is currently the Regional Director for Young Life in Chicagoland, which includes leading a team of about 80 staff and hundreds of volunteers. Jon seeks to develop people, raise money so that YL can do even more of it (especially in less financially resourced communities), and tends to the culture of the team. His Masters of Arts in Theology from Fuller Seminary was formative in helping Jon hone his practice of turning orthodoxy (right thinking) into orthopraxy (right living). Helping people become all of who God created them to be is his greatest desire—something this job offers in abundance. Jon is married to Annie, who after moving to Chicago, decided to start a school on the West Side of Chicago called The Field School, in partnership with a group of amazing people in the community. They are grateful that three of their four kids are able to attend this school (Nick, Raely, Lucy), while their oldest is in High School (Kylie). Jon’s greatest hobby is helping people or organizations become healthier and more effective. This currently includes informally advising Edge Mentoring, Chicago Fellowship, The Holy Post Podcast, The Field School and most anyone who calls. Beyond that, he enjoys sitting on a porch or outdoors at a restaurant talking with people he love. He also loves to read, exercise, watch NBA basketball and listen to way too many NBA podcasts.
