Gailyn Van Rheenen

Dr. Gailyn Van Rheenen served as a church-planting missionary in East Africa for 14 years, taught Missions and Bible at Abilene Christian University for 18 years, and is the founder and currently a facilitator of church planting and renewal within Mission Alive (www.missionalive.org). He is the author of Missions: Biblical Foundations and Contemporary Strategies (Zondervan); Communicating Christ in Animistic Contexts (William Carey Library); and The Changing Face of World Missions (Baker Academic; authored with Michael Pocock and Doug McConnell). He served as the editor of Contextualization and Syncretism: Navigating Cultural Currents (William Carey Library). He is conversant in two African languages. He is currently redeveloping www.missiology.org, which provides resources for missions education, for local church leaders, field missionaries, and teachers of missions. Thus Gailyn has experience in church planting and theological formation in both cross-cultural and domestic mission contexts.
