Cynthia Parker

Dr. Cyndi Parker, Clarke Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at Biblical Theological Seminary, lived and taught in Israel for five years before pursuing PhD studies on the biblical view of place. Motivated by engaging the land of the Bible and by watching her students connect with the geographical, historical, cultural, and political context of the biblical text, Cyndi began her academic (yet very personal) investigation into the innate human need to belong to place. Her interest in history, archaeology, and geography influences how she studies and teaches the Bible. Although she is a self-described nomad, Cyndi recognizes the benefit of cultivating a sense of rootedness both in a place and also in a narrative.
